Ford Credit has been much more consistent in financing dealer inventory. The lender financed 81 percent of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury wholesale volume to dealers in the first half, up from 78 percent a year ago.
The recently launched Ford Figo, which marks the American car maker’s foray into the Indian small car segment, has an entry-level variant priced at Rs 3.66 lakh.
“Toyota had the perfect model for the 1980s and 1990s, but its approach now looks outdated,” said Stefan Lippert, a business professor at Temple University in Japan. “The concentration of decision-making at headquarters is one of the factors behind Toyota’s problems right now.”
Toyota’s U.S. recall woes have been making daily headlines around the world, setting off worries in Japan the automaker’s once sterling image for top-rate manufacturing has failed to hold up to the pressures of rapid globalization.
