Not sure why English feedback is not getting on to the blog. Very nicely written rekindling memories of the past. The generation change is so fast. The present generation girls refuse to keep ‘kannu pudi’ questioning the colour food offerings to crows !! The modern day boys are becoming couch potatoes tagged on the computer or TV not prepared to venture out and play in the hot sun. They are not at all keen on eating sugarcane as this is enormous extra work going by their general standards. They would not know that people longed to bite and chew pieces of karumbu. They would never know the various local competitions aka challenges in breaking karumbu by forcing them against leg shin, or using knife with different grips. These were happening in the city in our school days. We also had no first info. of the way it was celebrated in a village but atleast fantasied a lot.
