Just when one thought that the show was coming to an end, they have stretched the program for few more weeks by announcing that the 18,19,20 May 2009 final round was “preliminary final” and we have a series of final rounds to go.

Utterly disappointing. In my opinion this will drive away some audience from the program as no one likes to continue watching a competition which drags on.

*********

I have to make one public appeal to one of the readers of this blog who probably reads only my Super Singer related posts.

Dear Friend,

I publicly accept that:

a) you are extremely intelligent,
b) you are very experienced in the media
c) you have achieved big things at a very young age
d) you have a fantastic ability to remotely assess and judge people, their attitudes and knowledge levels
e) know exactly what happens in the public media (especially behind the scenes)
f) have advance knowledge of what has been already shot in the AirTel Super Singer 2008 program

Having accepted the above and surrendered to your superiority, I make a public appeal to you not to post comments that reveal what you already know from the Super Singer 2008 program.

I do want to know what you already know and would rather wait for the program to be telecast to know the outcome/ fate of the singers competing in the show.

Thank you!
Best Regards
R Sathyamurthy

In the extended finals – they announced that due to lower public votes Ranjani (quite unexpectedly got only 31,000 odd votes) was to be eliminated. Prassy remains in the competition having got about 39K votes. We also got to know that Renu, who came third, got four times as much votes as Prassy got (which is again a big surprise – was there any rigging?), Ravi was the second while Ajesh got the maximum votes from the audience (numbers not announced for both Ravi and Ajesh and so we do not know the margin of difference).

P.S.: I feel saddened at the elimination of Ranjani, who in my opinion, did much better in the first round of finals than both Prasanna and Renu.

    Aitel Super Singer is now becoming like a Jaishankar Film. Too many twists and turns – you are seeing the fight, song, romance repetitively – they have killed the interest in the programme by doing so many rounds. Looks like they do not know how to end this programme.. I hope the Super Singer of 2008 will be announced before 2018.

    @Anand,

    You are right. I am also very disgusted that this program drags on like this. It is one thing to have a competition it is entirely another thing to have a competition prolonging like anything. I am sure Vijay TV would have got some feedback on this.

    @Seetha,

    I also feel that there is some kind of cheating in the voting going on. Else, no way Ranjani should have been eliminated getting the lowest number of votes. Renu should have been out, going by her pathetic performance in the “Preliminary” Final Round. (But I guess she has “some voice” supporting her there.

    Ram,

    You are very correct. The extended final rounds are also not that enjoyable. I hope atleast the “Final” Final to be telecast LIVE coming Wednesday will be good. Interestingly, there are several competitions such as this one coming to a close everywhere. In Vijay TV “Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva” is also coming to a close. In UK – Britan’s Got Talent – closed yesterday (it had following worldwide, I gather), Zee TV’s “Dance India Dance” show had its Grand Finale last night (The Hindi equivalent “Who is next Prabhu Deva”, should have been probably named “Ungalil Yaar Adutha Mithun Chakraborthy”).

    There are just too many reality shows on air these days and too much of “unreal” things in these reality shows!
