Can you investigate? ICC wants you

16 February 2009 1,490 views 3 Comments

Long time back I had set up an alert system in one of the job sites.  The site sends me one weekly alert on all interesting job vacancies that come about in the gulf region.  (Note to my colleagues in office who read this post: I had set this alert system before I joined our Company.  Hence, do not entertain any happy thoughts of being relieved from of my aghast company soon).

Today I got a new alert which informed me that there is a opening (!) slot available with ICC, Dubai.

It is creditable that ICC is recruiting despite recession times.  What with IPL round the corner and retrenchments being order of the day, ICC might well be expecting a surge in number of people turning to cricket betting as new source of income.

There are some great benefits in this job.

1. You will get to officially watch cricket matches during office hours

2. You can have cricinfo.com loaded on your browser and do not have to minimize the window when your colleague or boss walks in

3. You can have chat windows open discussing cricket matches as that might also give you clues to possible betting theories

4. You can meet players and officials as part of your job routine to investigate on “leads” (You can get to see Deepika Padukone and Tamil Actress Lakshmi Rai in “flesh and blood” depending upon whether you are meeting Yuvraj Singh or M S Dhoni)

5. You can possibly visit the dressing rooms of the teams to see the cricketers dress, undress and redress

6. If you are industrious enough, you can carry cricket bats, caps and T Shirts and get them autographed by the popular players to auction them on eBay

7. Above all, you can get to know match results, number of run-outs and dropped catches  in an innings much before anyone else; that is, even before a match is played ;-)

Now to the advertisement itself.

Tail piece (not part of ICC advertisement)

1) The job carries a daily bonus of threat calls from betting dons

2) Once in a life time chance to be murdered in a hotel anywhere in the world and it is guaranteed that the case will be closed as smoothly as possible (For testimonials: Contact Mrs. Bob Woolmer)

I would love to apply for this job with my credentials in investigation proved by my posts on Satyam scandal.  I also think I reasonably posses the skills required for the job.

But, unfortunately, I am unable to do so for three reasons.

1. My colleagues will be invariably reading this post and I just cannot make them happy so easily

2. ICC has not mentioned a word about the remuneration (do they want the guy to earn from betting?)

3. Read the two points in the Tail piece again

    Anand,

The best men who can apply for this job are a) Manoj Prabhakar, b) Mohd. Azharuddin, c) Ajay Jadeja.

They can work as a team in this post.

Hansie Cronje if alive could have been made the head of the department.

Sorry Azhar has taken up better paying responsibility than this. He is going to contest in elections for the GREAT CONGRESS.

Lalit Modi would have felt bad reading this article by you. Whatever his case and position be, why have you not thought off him as an option to take the job.
