I swear it is true. I think the BCCI might have wanted to keep it under wraps. But you know how stealthily Indian news channels operate for getting the news scoops. (I never expected this to happen when I wrote about Utterly Butterly Delicious Dhoni three years back)

It was on the news channel partly owned by the “most reliable” newsface of the country Mr. Pranoy Roy (rest of the shares are with individual and institutional investors).  I came back from office and switched on the television to catch a glimpse of the breaking news.

And I was shocked no ends when I saw that on the TV.

I don’t know whether ICC rules will now permit a once man now woman to lead the Indian men’s cricket team?  Can this MSD as a Lady play at the Lords?

Did BCCI tell Dhoni that he has already shown his potential as a men’s team captain so he should now concentrate on the Indian Women (I mean the women’s team) to take their ranking forward?

MSD can take the women’s team forward but there will be millions of young girls’ heart broken by this truly breaking news, actually heart breaking news.

I know you won’t believe me.  So, I came with the evidence.  See the photo below.

Tell me if M S Dhoni’s sister or mother can win Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. You may decide not trust me. But when it comes to NDTV, there can be no questions about truth reporting. Right?

MSD is a Lady

Tail Piece: I found on Facebook that there is a group named as “Can you take Barkha Dutt off air” by facebookers who do not like a wee bit Barkha Dutt, the popular news anchor of NDTV.  One of them posted this humorous message on her style of reporting (there is live coverage of the 26/11 Taj seiege and Barkha Dutt is reporting):

You hear an explosion.

You ask a random police man two feet away from you, Bhaisaaab ye KISKA dhamaka tha? (if the explosion that happened on the Nth floor was that from the terrorist or that of the Army?), just like you ask directions from some one standing at a street corner. The policeman naturally becomes confused and cannot obviously answer.

You shout back to the studio (imagine Barkha Dutt’s scream)  “THE SECURITY PERSONNEL DID NOT CLARIFY IF THE EXPLOSION WAS MADE BY THE ARMY OR TERRORISTS”

Won’t believe me? See this:

That is journalism, NDTV style.  And you get Padmashri for that.  :(

    Curdriceaurora,

Nice observation. They received special awards from BCCI and our “emptyTV” showed their previous awards against their name.

    Hi Sathya,

I was shocked when I read this first. Even after seeing the image I was unable to make out. Got the point at last.

NDTV has to be seriously careful! :)
