I am in 100% agreement with you.

I think the report is more about strategies for dealing with the situation and includes the news updates as part of it.

Even otherwise, I think the key point to understand is what they advertise it as and what it is.
- If they say it is original research and it is cut-paste then it is cheating
- If they call it a news compendium and sell it, who are we to criticise(if somebody wants a news compendium for $499, he/she values his time highly and is getting in with eyes open).

I am saying it is demand-supply situation. Again I am assuming the news compendium gives credit to sources(and pays where applicable)

I agree with you. Even this blog got lots of traffic, no denial of the fact. However, would it have been right if I copy paste from several blogs and make the users pay a subscription US $ 5 per visit?

Even this blog would have attracted more visits thanks to the frequent reminders/posts in the Google forum

back to the report – since they are targeting Satyam’s client – guess it should be more of an insight than plain news.

So back on Satyam? It is bad if the copy-pasted story is sold. It would have been much better idea if Everest Research Institute has provided the same compilation to few educational institutes as case study.

But on the otherhand even if it is a copy-pasted one, the time it takes for one person to collect all the data so far released on Satyam on the web is going to be a one up-hill task. In a way, it reduces surfer’s and researcher’s time. However, the originality will not be there in this compilation.
